Biere de Garde is a traditional, artisanal farmhouse ale from Northern France brewed and kept for consumption in warm weather. This beer is neither traditional, artisanal or brewed in a farmhouse, but it is, stylistically speaking, a Beire de Garde. It is a medium bodied, malty amber ale brewed with high quality Pilsener and caramel malts. It is delicately hopped with Czech Saaz for a nice spicy and peppery flavor and aroma. We then laid this beer down in some spent French oak red wine barrels to gather some soft wood tannins to balance out the malty sweetness and provide another layer of flavor from subtle pinot noir notes.
