The base beer here rides the line between a stout and a porter featuring both roasty and chocolatey flavors with neither one really dominating. The really interesting stuff, however, comes at the end of the boil. After the boil but before fermentation we steeped two pounds of Earl Grey tea in the fresh wort to extract all the delectable black tea and bergamot bitter orange flavors inherent to a great cuppa. The aroma is ultra-fruity, and plenty of the semi-bitter, earthy tea notes shine through with each sip. Take a pint, lie back, and think of England, my dear.
